Grice-Fearing House

Date: ca. 1800, 1840, 1885

This single pile 2-story house was built about 1800, and doubled in size in 1840 when the front porch was added. The one-story north wing was added in 1885. The house, alleged to have been built by Charles Grice, came into the Fearing family in 1832. Isaiah Fearing, prominent merchant/postmaster (and his wife, "Submit") lived here until his death in 1858. The house is believed to the the oldest structure in the ECHD.
