One of two (#226) identical 2-story side-hall-plan hipped-roof dwellings with projecting pedimented bay; wrap-around porch has paired Tuscan columns with distinctive Craftsman accents raised on brick pedestals; erected by contractor Joseph P. Kramer, Sr., who constructed pairs of similar rental houses for his brother C. E. Kramer ca. 1908 at 610 and 612 West Main Street (Elizabeth City Historic District) and for himself 1914-23 at 404 and 406 North Road Street (Northside Historic District); built for Malvern H. Tillett (see #224); sold in 1926 to Judge Walter L. Small, in whoso family the houses remained as rental property until 1974.
